Workshop FAQ
Are all experience levels welcome?
Yes! This workshop is designed for beginners and welcomes all skill levels. No prior ceramics experience is necessary.
What is the age requirement?
Workshops are intended for adults ages 18 and older unless otherwise noted.
Where are workshops held?
Unless otherwise noted, all workshops take place in the barn at Cedarhouse 611 W. Chapman Ave, Orange, Ca.
Where should I park?
Free parking is available at the nearby train station, just a 2-minute walk from Cedarhouse. Please do not park on Pixley, as street parking is reserved for permit holders and limited-time parking only.
How long are workshops?
Most workshops are approximately 2 hours long.
Will the coffee shop be open during workshops?
Some workshops take place outside of regular coffee shop hours. During those times, café service will not be available.
What is the cancellation policy?
Due to limited seating and advance material preparation, cancellations must be made at least 14 days before the workshop date to receive a full refund or class credit.
14+ days before: Full refund or class credit
7–13 days before: 50% refund or full class credit
6 days or less: No refunds
Registrations may be transferred to another person at any time before the workshop. Please email us the attendee's name and contact information in advance.
When will my ceramics be ready?
Finished pieces are typically ready for pickup approximately 3-4 weeks after the workshop. You will receive an email notification when your work is ready, along with available pickup dates and location details.
Because the venue does not store finished pottery, pieces must be collected during the designated pickup window. If you are unable to attend the scheduled pickup dates, alternative pickup arrangements may be made from Andrea's Costa Mesa studio by appointment.
Due to limited storage space, work not collected within 30 days of notification may be donated, recycled, or discarded.
Can I use my mugs for food and drinks?
Yes. All finished mugs are glazed with a food-safe clear glaze and kiln-fired.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little messy. Clay washes out easily, but pottery can be dusty.
What happens if my piece cracks or breaks during firing?
Ceramics is an inherently unpredictable process, and occasional cracking, warping, glaze variations, or breakage can occur during drying, glazing, or firing. Every piece is handled with care, and every effort is made to ensure work is properly dried, glazed, and fired.
To help increase the likelihood that you leave with a finished piece, participants create two mugs during the workshop. While most pieces fire successfully, we cannot guarantee results, and refunds or replacements cannot be provided for pieces affected during the firing process.
Can I bring food or alcohol?
Outside food and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Because we work with clay, glazes, and ceramic materials throughout the workshop, we recommend enjoying food before or after class rather than during the session.
